Omani sailors exhibited a good show in Doha after securing the Sultanate's position among the top five places in the Arab world and concluding the Pan Arab Games on a high note.


The final day saw fierce competition between the sailors. everyone had set their eyes to a podium finish. Ahmed Al Wahaibi entered the final day in the fourth place with an intention to close the gap between him and the podium, but despite finishing one of the races in the third place, luck was not in favor and the shifty winds continued to challenge the sailor, but he battled his way to finish the day in the fifth place overall.
Teamate Ahmed Al Mashari followed Al Wahaibi in the sixth place. Both sailors secured consistent results that got them in the winning half of the mid fleet.


After returning to dock, Ahmed Al Wahaibi said: " " Sailing here has been a great experience, the competition has just been incredible. Our aim was to be in the first five places and we achieved that. winning the medal would have completed my joy but the experience I gained is something I treasure. This event has helped me gain a lot more experience and set up higher standards for myself and my team. I congratulate my brothers who won the podium, specially Abdul Rahim from Bahrain for an outstanding performance. I would like to thank all the organizers for this great event and wish all our brothers in Qatar a very happy national day. I hope to see more such great events our region."


Young sailor Mohammed Al Mashari also showed great performance in the event. The 17-year-old has only been training in Laser for about six months and was selected among the chosen team to represent Oman in Laser 4.7 class. The promising sailor also secured his place among the top mid fleet.?
