The event was also attended by Ali bin Abdullah Baznbur, General Manager of Sports Activities and a number of officials from the sport of sailing. Ahmed and Abdullah began their journey in September 2009 from the English port of Hull. Their epic journey lasted ten months, covering 40,000 miles (64,374 km) of desolate sea and stopovers in eight continents. Both sailors finished their voyage around the world on 17th July 2010, adding a new chapter in Oman’s maritime heritage. 

Ahmed expressed his joy for accomplishing this unique achievement“ this comes in hand with the celebrations of the country's 40th National Day. We were blesssed to get the support from the government and various stakeholder spcialy Omani sail and our sponsors Rennaisance Services who played a prominent role in the success of this global journey.” Said Ahmed.

Aballah Al Busaidi also added: “Oman Sail’s long term objective is to build a foundation for the sport of sailing by building seven sialing schools along the coast of the Sultanate in the coming five years with an intention to rekindle our rich martime heitage. For us this is just the beginning, there are many more achivements that will follow, and I belive that any one who aspires to achieve his/her goal, with patience and diligence they can achive whatever they wish to pusue”
