The first media race under heavy skies was won by Luna, but Renaissance with Khamis crewing came a very respectable fifth place and Mubarak crewing on Masirah was not far behind in eighth.

Two "long distance" courses this afternoon have enabled Mubarak and Khamis to crew on both Renaissance and Masirah. They are currently racing from Hyères to the northern tip of the island of Porquerolles and back which are about 10 miles offshore.

Mubarak and Khamis have been match racing in Hyeres in advance of the second iShares Cup leg that starts tomorrow. Mubarak took to the helm for the first time on Renaissance and under the watchful eye of Loick Peyron, he just pipped Khamis to the post.

The spars (mast and boom) of the Arabian 100 have been loaded onto a ship and are on their way to Salalah from Auckland, New Zealand. The mast (115') and the boom of the boat were designed and manufactured out of carbon fibre by Southern Spars, a specialist spar building company in Auckland, to the very highest standards. The assembly of the Arabian 100 is already a few days ahead of schedule and the launch of the boat is planned for late August or early September 2009.

To win against the great names of sailing such as Russell Coutts and Ben Ainslie is a triumph for any sailor, but victory is even more impressive for Khamis Al Anbouri on his debut as a full time member of the Masirah crew that took line honours today in the famous Round the Island race. This is an extremely proud moment for both Oman and the crew of Masirah.

Masirah skipper Pete Cumming and fellow mates with Khamis on board are making great progress towards Cowes while the last boat has finally rounded the Needles at 13:10 GMT. Current weather reports show some 3.0 knots of Highest Gust wind and the dirction is South.

Masirah is still on the lead with 12 knots boatspeed and making good progress towards Ryde Pier. The highest gust of wind is 2.6 knots and the direction is north-east.

The first Arabian 100, a new class of 105' trimaran, has arrived in the southern city of Salalah in Oman for final assembly. Built by Boatspeed in Australia, the three hulls and connecting beams were shipped on deck to Salalah via India.
