Teaching Omanis how to sail is the primary objective of Oman Sail. To date the Sailing School at Marina Bandar Al Rowdha has exceeded all expectations since the first courses were delivered in October 2009. One hundred children are learning to sail on a weekly basis and are being taught by qualified Omani instructors.

A full dual language training syllabus has been developed. This will give Oman Sailing Schools international recognition, and mean that any sailing qualification achieved will be recognised worldwide.

Taster sessions will be invaluable to demonstrate to the community that sailing is a fun, easy and accessible sport for Omanis. This could range from a member of Oman Sail presenting at a local school or a fleet of boats at a festival. Every participant will be informed of where they can learn to sail, ensuring that this is not their last sailing experience.

The Sailing School Regatta

Sailing teaches transferable skills, such as teamwork, leadership and problem solving complementing the education curriculum. Half the courses taught will be geared to school children. Once children have completed an initial course, they will be invited to join the weekly community club enabling them to carry on sailing.
