Oman Sail announces opening of Mussanah Marina

The venue at Mussanah Sports City has been a hive of activity over the last year, and Oman Sail is pleased to announce the next phase in its development, with the opening of its new marina facility.

Located just 85km north west of Muscat, Mussanah Marina offers 54 quality berths, dock-side support and first class facilities including boat cleaning, assistance upon arrival and disembarkment and a fuel dock. Offering free berthing for private boat owners until 31st December 2011 and extremely competitive berthing rates thereafter; Mussanah Marina is an ideal choice for permanent berthing or visiting yachtsman.
The stunning waterfront destination which was purpose built to host the Asian Beach Games in 2010 is an excellent base for cruising to the nearby Damaniyat Islands and renowned fishing and diving locations, or for exploring further afield to the Musandam Peninsula.

Oman Sail has a commitment to the continuous development of the site at Mussanah, with plans to host many international sailing events in the future. Mussanah Marina has six dedicated staff members - all of who have been employed from the local area. Oman Sail is focused on developing the skills of Omanis, creating employment opportunities and developing a marine industry that will thrive for generations to come.

The Millennium Hotel with its excellent restaurant and beach is ideally located at the Marina. Access to Oman Sail’s sailing school and a host of water activities ensures Mussanah Marina provides a unique leisure experience for everyone.

The Sailing School

Since its official opening in February this year, the sailing school has already seen thousands of young Omanis take to the water. The school is open to the general public providing a range of courses for individuals and groups, and allowing companies a new and exciting option for corporate retreats.

The Sailing School is the second to be operated by Oman Sail - the first is at Marina Bandar Rowdha- and comes as part of Oman Sail’s five-year plan of establishing seven Sailing Schools in The Sultanate by 2015.
