Last month, more than 1,000 visitors flocked to the Silver Jubilee Park in Sohar to sample a range of activities from banana and ringo rides to Try Sailing events where almost 500 people registered to have a go on the Hobie 16 catamaran. This next event in Shatti is expected to attract even bigger crowds over the Friday and Saturday as word gets out about Oman Sail’s fantastic initiative to promote healthy lifestyles to people of all ages through the sport of sailing.

Omantel will once again be promoting their Ozone Club with discounted calling rates, free mobile broadband usage and ring tones and at the same time urging their young customers aged 18-25 to participate, especially if they like the look of the free style dancing platform where they can throw a few shapes. Bouncy castles, rope pulling, drawing and painting sessions, an Educational Art Zone and a medley of other fun, family focussed activities are designed to appeal to every age and level of interest.

Salma Al Hashmi, Director of Marketing and Events said: “Our first event at Sohar last month was a major success and we loved seeing how people, who had never been on the water before, quickly twigged on to sailing and all the water sports, as some of the most fun and healthy activities on offer in Oman. These public beach events demonstrate everything that sailing has to offer and it is good to see so many people taking advantage of our initiative.”
