The inaugural Schools Sailing Regatta will take place today, Saturday 27th March 2010 under the auspices of His Excellency Rashad bin Ahmed Al Hinai, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Sports Affairs.
Sailing Champion In Muscat To Train Omanis20 March 2010
In recent months there have been a lot of world champions visiting Oman, whether it be sailors, cyclists, soccer players or racecar drivers. The last week has seen world number two ranked Laser sailor, Nick Thompson, who is in Oman Sail's Oman Sailing School to train the young Omani national sailors.
The Jewel of Muscat Hosts Press Conference in India16 March 2010
On Tuesday 16th March the Jewel of Muscat (JoM) team organized a press conference at the Taj Maabr Hotel in Kochi. The conference was presented by Captin Saleh Al Jabri, Tom Vosmer (Construction Director), Ahmed Al Adawi ( Omani Crew Member), Pushpadas (Indian Crew Member), Nick Swollow (Project Advisor) and MC Joce (CEO – Khimji Ramdas Logistics: Logistics Partner) and Mohamed Al Eissa ( PR Manager, Oman Sail)
The Jewel of Muscat arrives in Kochi, India! 15 March 2010
The Jewel of Muscat will be arriving the outer harbour in Kochi, India on Monday 15th March 2010 at about 10:00 am. The Jewel, an Omani ship inspired by a 9th Century hand sewn sailing ship, has taken 27 days to sail from Muscat, Oman to Kochi. This completes the first leg of an epic voyage to Singapore for this reconstruction of an ancient ship following ancient trade routes.
Majan Speeds Into Southern Ocean14 March 2010
Majan departed Cape Town on noon on 10th March 2010, for Leg 3 and headed into the Southern Ocean towards Cape Leeuwin, off the south west coast of Australia, as she continues to map out a potential Indian Ocean 5 Capes Race route.
The Jewel of Muscat approaches Cochin, India! 07 March 2010
The Jewel Of Muscat has now traveled more than 1,454km (960 miles) from Muscat and has around 805km (500 miles) to go. If the current winds hold up she could be in her first port at Cochin, India in a week's time.
Majan Prepares For Southern Ocean07 March 2010
Oman's A100 trimaran Majan is about to leave Cape Town, South Africa for the start of the second leg of the route setting for the Indian Ocean 5 Capes Race. Making headline news in South Africa on her arrival, Majan had swept into Table Bay, Cape Town, on Tuesday 2nd March after screaming around Cape Point and down the Peninsula at speeds of over 30 knots (55 kmph) in strong winds.
Oman Sail Makes French Connection03 March 2010
On Tuesday 2nd March 2010, CEO of Oman Sail David Graham hosted a press conference in Paris to announce the involvement of Oman Sail in three major sailing events that will be happening in France this year: the Tour de France à la Voile, the Route du Rhum and the French leg of the Extreme Sailing Series Europe competition.
Oman Sailors win bronze in major international regatta in Qatar23 February 2010
Mohammed Al-Alawi and Akram Al-Wahaibi held off strong competition from a first class international fleet to win a bronze medal at one of the largest sailing regattas ever held within the GCC. Both sailors are members of the Oman Sail National Sailing Team, who are now one step closer to achieving their aim of medalling at the Asian Beach Games, being held in Muscat in December. This achievement is outstanding as these sailors have only been sailing for 8 months and this is the teams first major international regatta.

Hobie 16 National Championships
The weekend of the 1st-2nd October saw the Oman Hobie 16 National Championships taking place in the warm waters off Muscat. Three Oman Sail boats took part with Omani crews from the Academy.
Indian Ocean 5 Capes Race
The growth of competitive sailing in the Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean is taking a further step forward as the sailing events company, OC Events (Asia), in association with Oman Sail launchesa new premier race, the 5 Capes of the Indian Ocean Race.
Young Learners Meet Young Sailors
On Wednesday the 29th, Oman Sail visited the British Council and gave some of the Young Learners an idea of life at sea.
