The Jewel of Muscat arrives in Kochi, India!

The Jewel of Muscat will be arriving the outer harbour in Kochi, India on Monday 15th March 2010 at about 10:00 am. The Jewel, an Omani ship inspired by a 9th Century hand sewn sailing ship, has taken 27 days to sail from Muscat, Oman to Kochi. This completes the first leg of an epic voyage to Singapore for this reconstruction of an ancient ship following ancient trade routes.

Majan Prepares For Southern Ocean

Oman's A100 trimaran Majan is about to leave Cape Town, South Africa for the start of the second leg of the route setting for the Indian Ocean 5 Capes Race. Making headline news in South Africa on her arrival, Majan had swept into Table Bay, Cape Town, on Tuesday 2nd March after screaming around Cape Point and down the Peninsula at speeds of over 30 knots (55 kmph) in strong winds.

Oman Sailors win bronze in major international regatta in Qatar

Mohammed Al-Alawi and Akram Al-Wahaibi held off strong competition from a first class international fleet to win a bronze medal at one of the largest sailing regattas ever held within the GCC. Both sailors are members of the Oman Sail National Sailing Team, who are now one step closer to achieving their aim of medalling at the Asian Beach Games, being held in Muscat in December. This achievement is outstanding as these sailors have only been sailing for 8 months and this is the teams first major international regatta.

Today, Sunday 5th september 2010, HH Sayyid Haitham Al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, presented Saleh Al Jabri with one of Oman's highest honours- the Medal of Honour. Bestowed upon him by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, it was presented to Saleh in light of his momentous achievement in taking the Jewel of Muscat from Muscat to Singapore.

With three events of the Extreme Sailing Series now complete in France, UK and Germany, Oman Sail’s Extreme 40 The Wave, Muscat stay on the podium, finishing third overall in Kiel leaving them second overall for the series and still in contention for the overall title.

Kiel, Germany provided some truly tricky conditions for the two Oman Sail Extreme 40s on the penultimate day of racing in Germany of the Extreme Sailing Series. Oman Sails Masirah, had a good day on the water finishing second overall going into the final day of racing, their team-mates on The Wave, Muscat had an altogether more exciting day.

24 August 2010 07:22OMAN AIR MAJAN smashes single handed record
At 09:03:55 GMT (13:03 local time Muscat) today (24/08/10) skipper Sidney Gavignet (FRA) onboard OMAN AIR MAJAN crossed the finish line off Lizard Point, Cornwall to smash the single-handed Round Britain and Ireland record. The A100 trimaran broke the existing record held by Thomas Coville by a massive 1 day 15 hours 30 minutes and 44 seconds.

Mohsin Al Busaidi joined His Royal Highness Willem Alexander, Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Netherlands under whose patronage Sail Amsterdam 2010 took place on Thursday the 19th and sailed on board a DAMEN built Stad Amsterdam Clipper that led the opening of Sail Amsterdam with the presence of thousands of spectators.

Oman Sail is a big step closer to the goal of opening three new sailing schools in 2011 as five Omani instructors passed their RYA Senior Instructors Course.
