Day 76: In Omani waters, the final 300 miles.24 March 2009

Day 76: In Omani waters, the final 300 miles.

We did get the wind, and it did come from a good (good enough) direction and as predicted the distance to finish is around 350 nautical miles this morning - had some great sailing with some bursts up to 23 knots whilst dodging flying fish.

Day 75: Under 600 miles to Muscat 23 March 2009

Day 75: Under 600 miles to Muscat

We have some wind for now at least and everything is pointing towards there being good south west winds as we get closer to the Oman coast line. If we can get some wind from the right direction today we could have a distance to finish of around 350 nautical miles by tomorrow's update.

Day 74: Toughing it out 22 March 2009

Day 74: Toughing it out

All through the night the winds have been super light and very variable. Of course we had been anticipating this for a few days, the high pressure centered between us and 'the corner' as Ras Al Hadd was always going to provided us with a case of the slows.

Day 73: One more hurdle 21 March 2009

Day 73: One more hurdle

So we have one last hurdle to jump an area of high pressure between us and the finish. How big is it? and how long will it's light airs affect us? These are the big questions, keep your fingers crossed for us not stopping too long...

Day 72: The final 1000 miles 20 March 2009

Day 72: The final 1000 miles

I must say this is an update I thought at one stage I would never write and that day 71's food bag was one that we would unpack in the storage container. For a good portion of this trip we have been on schedule for a 70 day circumnavigation. The Doldrums have decided that would not be the case.
